About

I’m a project manager and business analyst with 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector, primarily in risk management, finance and regulatory compliance projects. I’ve mainly worked for large global banks and market infrastructure providers in London, Singapore and Belgium.

I hold a Masters in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp and a Masters in Finance from London Business School.

In addition to my consulting work, I’m also a senior advisor in economic policy for REFSA, a preeminent think tank in South-East Asia. In this setting, I’m mainly interested in the interplay between the financial sector and the real economy in an international context, the transmission mechanisms of fiscal and monetary policy and the role of the government in fostering a well-functioning market with fair and just outcomes.

Further afield, I’m fascinated by the rise of digital technology and its economic, social and political ramifications. I write an occasional newsletter centred on these topics, with a particular focus on privacy and technology regulation–subscribe here. Less regularly I write longer form articles on the topics above, highlighted on this site.

I also run, take photographs and express opinions, sometimes.

I registered the domain name webfred.org in 1997. The current site has been hosted for a really long time by a friend. It’s a static html site generated by Hugo. The design and assorted CSS code is handcrafted.
